While our primary focus has been those of us in our "next 50," we have found our customers range in age from the 20's to over 90. For instance, Kathleen, a retired accountant in Gainesville, Florida, is a loyal, repeat SSN customer, as is her granddaughter and namesake, a third grade teacher who lives in Ft. Collins, Colorado. But here's how it all began...

If we were to write the story of how Senior Shopping Network (SSN) came to be, the title of the story would be Lunch at the Painted Pony in St. George, Utah, for that's where it all began. While spending the morning with Grandma, the conversation turned to how difficult it is for her and her friends to conveniently acquire quality products at affordable prices. It simply isn't within their ability or desire to spend a day comparison shopping from store to store to find the best deals. And who wants to take time away from an active adult lifestyle of travel, golf, fishing, volunteering, part-time work or just well deserved relaxation with a good book to go out and shop around? Little did we know at that time but a seed had been planted. Next stop for our family was the Painted Pony Restaurant.

After studying the menu and placing our orders, conversation didn't just flow, it burst forth. Ideas seemingly came from every direction about how we could be a family-owned and operated business dedicated to providing quality products at affordable prices delivered to our customer's doorsteps. The seed that was planted while visiting Grandma was nurtured at lunch at The Painted Pony and soon after, the concept of the Senior Shopping Network was born.

Senior Shopping Network began as a catalog business, but we quickly realized we could more rapidly respond to our customers requests by placing more emphasis on our website. After our first year, we also realized we needed to expand our market exposure and find a way to serve more people. We decided Senior Shopping Network needed to become just that, a network. As we had done in our catalogs, we have chosen to continue to include articles of interest and important product information on the SSN website. And, finally, another "plus" in doing business on the Internet...we will be conserving a resource, paper!
